Hey everyone! How’s your reading so far this year? It’s been pretty good on me, especially since I’m on track with my challenge and schedule. Also, I finally settled with ‘Reading Round-Up’ as a new weekly feature on this blog to share all about my reading updates. This post is also going to be submitted for ‘It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?’ hosted by Kathryn @ The Book Date & ‘WWW Wednesday’ hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words.
Reading Round-Up is a weekly feature in Artsy Draft where I share my reading updates, including mini review of books I previously read (ones which doesn’t make it as a full review in this blog), my current reads and my plan for upcoming reads.
- The Suspect by Fiona Barton was a decent mystery/thriller. It’s actually more of mystery and less of thriller. The plot was steady and the twist revealed too fast for my preference. The characters was quite interesting, though. ★★★½ (Full Review)
- Sincerely, Harriet by Sarah W. Searle is the first American graphic novel that I encountered. The drawing was minimal, which I guess is great because the target readers for this book are middle graders. However, the plot was a bit hard too understand and the message of this book was not properly explained. ★★★ (Full Review)
- I’m 60% on Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy. It was really good so far and each characters really hook me up into their life dramas. I also had a really fun discussion last week regarding the first half of this book on Diverse Divers’ book club!
- I’m only 10% on The Frame-Up by Meghan Scott Molin, but it was amazing so far! I’m a big fan of the pop culture references that scattered here and there. I mean, the mentioned of Jon Snow and Muggle? Yes, please.
My upcoming reads are It Started With A Note by Victoria Cooke and What Were You Thinking, Paige Taylor? by Amanda Ashby. I don’t have any expectation for these two, but it seems it will be a pretty entertaining reads.
